Advantages and Advantages of Facebook
The advantages of using Facebook include the librarians being able to promote their school’s library events. This platform also allows librarians to reach students, staff, parents and community members. The information broadcast is current and provides an opportunity for librarians to provide information instantly. Facebook allows libraries to reach out to patrons, as well as allowing patrons to reach out to libraries.
The disadvantages include the time spent to keep up with the page may be daunting with all the other daily task of a librarian, using a public network may come with restrictions due to the district policy. Older students may be reluctant to follow a school library pages because of the content displayed on their page. Younger student may not have access to a Facebook account due to age.

Ed Tech Leaders
Kathy Schrock is very active on twitter and promotes technology in the classroom. She has been a prominent leader for every very long time with one twitter user posting “Even back in 1998, @kathyschrock was working to bring #edtech to teacher so that we could impact student learning”. Linda W. Braun (@lbraun2000) is a learning consultant, educator, teen advocate, library and YALSA Past President. Her post includes a variety of information from YALSA news to teen programs. David Warlick joined Twitter in 2007 and has been very active since. He post anything from #dronephotography to links on, “Eight tips for encouraging student to deveop critical reading habits” (@dwarlick). Gwyneth Jones is the author of The Daring Librarian Blog, google certified and describes herself as an innovator and geek. Her post includes photos of her students, technology tips, librarian tips and so much more! I truly enjoyed her blog! Jim Lerman(@jimlerman) is an educator, Designer, author, speaker and project director. He posts on many relevant and useful technology. One of his post provides information on how to use google docs, slides and forms for student projects. His twitter post would be great to follow as a librarian for Technology information.

Facebook or Twitter?
Twitter all the way! Twitter is much more user friendly and after analyzing librarians using twitter vs Facebook there is no comparison that using twitter is much more successful. Many of the librarians that used Facebook did not receive many comments and it seems like there were few interactions with students.
