Reflection
I have been a third-grade
reading teacher for the past four years, so I was very surprised to learn some
of these literary elements. Now I know many of these are not used in children’s
books but I thought I would have come across some of these unknown words once
or twice. Deus ex Machina and archetype were some very new words to me. As a librarian,
I believe it’s important to learn all these elements and how they will help
users when they are reading. I do realize that some of the books I have been
reading for this course have many of these elements and devices throughout the
books. Now that I am more knowledgeable about these terms I will be able to
identify them more easily when reading.
